This month we talk to Sara Owczarczak Gastecka about her work on the epidemiology of dog bites. Before we can implemente protocols or legislation to reduce the occurrence of accidents such as dog bites, we first need to understand how and when they occur. Sara has recently published a paper: "Online videos indicate human and dog behaviour preceding dog bites and the context in which bites occur" which can be accessed here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-25671-7.For those interested in more information about dog behaviour or advice on handling problem dogs the following organisations may be of help:APBC- Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors https://www.apbc.org.uk/APDT- Association of Pet Dog Trainers: http://www.apdt.co.uk/ CCAB- Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourists https://www.asab.org/ccab/
