SEO Intro – UWP Podcast EP 3

In episode 2, I took you through niche and domain name selection. In UWP Podcast EP 3 we will talk about a term that you are certain to hear once you start getting serious about blogging, SEO. SEO is search engine optimization, and I will let you know its incredible level of importance in the podcast!

SEO Intro is the first of many UWP SEO podcasts to come!

Let’s analyze everything talked about in the podcast:

• SEO – Search Engine Optimization, the act of improving your site for the purpose of ranking higher in search engine results.
• Ranking – The number of posts that your post is located at for a search (1 is best).
• Traffic – The number of visitors coming to your site.
• Organic traffic – Traffic coming to your site for free, without advertising.
• Inorganic traffic – Traffic coming to your site by clicking on an advertisement for your site.
• Individual post Search Engine Optimization – You can compare your posts to the posts on the first page of Google, and attempt to create a better post than that post, with more media and overall content.
• Google vs. Bing & Yahoo – Google garners around 65 percent of worldwide searches, while Yahoo and Bing garner 30 to 35 percent of worldwide searches.
• What Microsoft’s ownership of Yahoo Means – This means that Bing and Yahoo now use similar ways of ranking, and therefore can both be ranked with some search engine strategies.
• Keyword vs. Competition – The most crucial thing for a keyword is the comparison of the search volume and the competition of posts for them.
